Instagram is making a major change to its main feed.
In the past, the app has put a lot of resources into its Stories feature, but now we finally have something new on its original timeline.
The picture-sharing social platform has started letting some users follow hashtags, as well as accounts.
This would make it far easier for users to find content that they’re interested in.
Right now it appears that the new feature is just in testing.
When searching a hashtag, and want to add them directly to your main feed, you simply tap the Follow button that pops up on the results page.
It currently appears that, to avoid completely overwhelming your feed, only “top posts and recent stories” will be pulled to the timeline.
If the feature proves popular with users, which is likely, it will roll out to everyone in the near future.
This could potentially be a very good move for Instagram.
Creators will like this as it makes it easier for their content to reach a new audience, whilst users will no longer have to actively search out new content to engage with.
