Instagram continues to keep users on their toes and phones firmly in palms with their near-constant tweaks and additional feature updates. The latest of said updates comes in the form of video chats that can now host up to six participants at one time.
The group chat feature was introduced in June of this year and originally allowed only four users to take part in a single group video chat at a time. It was also in June of this year that Instagram unveiled its IGTV feature and stand-alone app.

The popularity of video and video chats has steadily increased over the last few years, with fairly new platforms such as Vine, Music.ally and TikTok (to name a few) seeing great amounts of success, as well as the growth of stories and livestreams from apps like Snapchat and Periscope respectively.
As of June 2018, Instagram has 1 billion active users, with 500 million of those being daily active users.
While many people are fans of the update, many are still wondering when Instagram will address the ever-present issue of whether users will see a return to the chronological timeline.

Whether you’re a lover of Instagram or a hater, its an important tool for brands to connect to their audience. Brands see engagement rates exceeding 10x higher on Instagram than on Facebook.
