A few months ago, Facebook announced they were testing a secondary news feed.
The Explore feed, which is now available on both desktop and mobile, finds content it thinks users will like based on things they’ve previously engaged with or posts that are popular amongst their friends.
The new feed can be found under the Explore tab on the far left column of the desktop site; and under the more options list on the top right-hand corner of the mobile app.
The explore feed is designed to increase the amount of time users spend on the site, allowing Facebook to draw in, even more, ad revenue.
The feed itself has been in the testing phase for some time, and until now Facebook has maintained that its existence was only a test.
However, it appears the feature was no longer being tested and is now being rolled out to the site’s users worldwide.
Customised For Each Person
Facebook said the feed was “automatically customised for each person based on content that might be interesting to them”.
Facebook’s greatest strength is its ability to renovate and innovate. Whether the Explore tab is a game changer or just another brick in the wall will have to be seen.
