Corporate Challenge Raises £97,016 for Pendleside Hospice

The 2017 Pendleside Corporate Challenge was celebrated in style last week with a spectacular awards ceremony at the Burnley Mechanics Theatre. Following four months of hard work by 28 local businesses and organisations, the total amount raised was revealed. Each starting the challenge with £50, the teams managed to raise an incredible £97,016.66 for Pendleside Hospice.

The Corporate Challenge was sponsored by Charter Walk, with the awards hosted by 2BR’s own Simon Brierley. The event opened with free drinks, including prosecco (what’s an event without prosecco?) and Burnley’s own premium Batch gin, in celebration of International Gin and Tonic Day. Guests enjoyed an excellent selection of mouth-watering canapes, before the night kicked off and attendees took their seats for dinner.

Incredible support from local businesses

Our own MD and Pendleside Hospice trustee, Dave Walker, kicked off the ceremony with a brilliant speech about the dedication of the people involved in the Corporate Challenge, the vital work the Hospice does, and above all, the community spirit that made the night possible.

Through the night, the amazing work of the nominees was recognised and celebrated, with the whole event serving as a reminder of the importance of Pendleside to our local community. There was entertainment from Ian Lavin, a phenomenal magician with a few tricks up his sleeve. Along with Ian, guests were also treated to the stunning voice of local singer, Josh Hindle, as well as an auction run by Dave and PM+M‘s Neil Welsh.

It was a fantastic evening that we were delighted to be a part of. With Pendleside’s 30th anniversary coming up next year, we can’t wait to get started with Corporate Challenge 2018! To find out more and get involved, head to the Pendleside Hospice website.
