Our newest recruit puts her best foot forward

Our newest member of the team will be taking part in the National Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday to raise money for Pendleside Hospice.

Lisa Woodhouse, who joined +24 Marketing last week as Content Manager, will be walking the equivalent of a marathon between the three mountains.

First she will scale Ben Nevis in Scotland, the highest mountain in the British Isles standing at 1,344m above sea level, before travelling to Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, at 978m, which she and her team will climb at night.

Finally she will travel to the Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, at an elevation of 1,085m.

Lisa will be taking part in the challenge with 10 other friends and aims to raise as much as possible for Pendleside Hospice for the Gail Simpson Appeal.

She said: “It’s going to be horrific. I took part in the Yorkshire Three Peak challenge last month as a ‘warm up’ and I had severely underestimated how hard it was going to be. Knowing that I’m doing it for such a good cause this time will spur me on.

“I signed up to the National Three Peaks Challenge to push myself and we are determined to complete the challenge in under 24 hours.

“After signing up to the event, the wife of a former colleague of mine at the Lancashire Telegraph sadly died. In her final days she received lots of care and support from Pendleside. So did her family.

“Her husband, Alan Simpson, pledged to raise £10,000 for the hospice in memory of his wife Gail and I asked if I could help and raise some money towards the Gail Simpson appeal target.

“Since then, I have joined the +24 Marketing team in Burnley who are also supporters of the local charity.”

Lisa has paid for the event out of her own pocket, along with her travel and accommodation.

She said: “Every penny raised will go towards the charity.

“I have already raised some money offline, and I am hoping this will help more people to donate.”
