Whilst he was talking about the sandwiches in that quote, our event went pretty well as well.
This month’s event was part of Burnley Business Week – a week of free business workshops and seminars in the town. Social media was the main topic but our very own Social Sam was quick to inform us all that it was important to take a step back.
“Social media is just one element of Content Marketing. Conversations are still a vital part of social media but it’s important that you are adding value. Utilise social media as a distribution channel for the various types of content you are producing.”
Facebook, LinkedIn, and Snapchat stood out as some of the most popular platforms during this event, with guests having the opportunity to pick Social Sam’s brain about a variety of different topics.
To begin with, Sam discussed the importance of blogging, urging the audience to use their blog as the anchor to their Content Marketing – both on their website, as well as utilising Linkedin’s Pulse platform.
Sam also spoke about a variety of third-party websites and apps you can use to boost your social media experience including TweetDeck, Canva, and Buffer which could all help to reduce the time and maximise efficiency for the local businesses in attendance.
There was plenty more practical advice on offer, including Sam giving attendees a live demonstration of how to set up a Facebook advert, including some inside tips to maximise both cost-effectiveness and audience reach.
